Asu Mare Yanbu: An Innovative architecture for Nikkei Culture
Asu Mare is a unique restaurant located on the rooftop of a lifestyle hotel in Yanbu. Special attention is paid to the cultural synthesis of Nikkei cuisine in this Innovative architecture project where the traditions of Peru and Japan merge. The restaurant’s design fully reflects this idea of combining the pure forms of Japanese wabi-sabi minimalism with the energetic textures, colors, and geometric ornaments of Peru.
Functional Solution and Space Organization
Stylized bar in the lift lobby:
From the very first glance, guests are greeted by a refined, warm atmosphere, where lighting and decorative elements are the most important details that carefully interconnect the space.
Open kitchen area:
The restaurant’s guests have the opportunity to directly observethe culinary process, offering them additional experience.
Intimate zones:
In the shared space with communal tables, there are also more private seating areas, creating a balance—this is convenient for different types of guests who may prefer a quieter environment.
Cultural Synthesis: Peru Meets Japan
Wabi-sabi minimalism:
A Japanese philosophy that appreciates humble “imperfection”—this blend is reflected in both the materials and the decorative details. Subtle traces on wood, stone, and other natural surfaces emphasize their authenticity.
Peruvian energy:
Warm, earthy tones dominate the interior, and bright red elements along with geometric Peruvian motifs imbue the space with a completely different vibrancy. This innovative architecture creates an atmosphere distinct from everyday life, arising from the merging of cultures.
Materials and Details
Natural wood, stone, and woven fabrics:
These materials establish a direct connection with the original roots of both Peru and Japan.
Vibrant accents:
Bold red color splashes and the repeated use of Peruvian symbols
lend the interior a sense of celebration and joy.
